In a region populated by so many large and impressive moths the small species are easily overlooked yet they may be equally as superbly camouflaged, or brightly coloured and/or patterned. This Tineid moth becomes virtually invisible on fibrous bark. The genus Machaeropteris occurs from the Afrotropical region to the Indian and Oriental tropics as far east as the Lesser Sunda Islands of Indonesia
